    Founder, Chairman, President, and CEO

    Yang Wu founded Microvast in December 2006 and is the Founder, Chairman, President, and CEO.

    Mr. Wu is a very experienced entrepreneur with Microvast being his eighth successful business. Before he started Microvast, he has founded water purification business Omex Environmental Engineering in 2000. The Omex company was acquired by Dow Chemical in 2006, resulting in a 55 times return on investment in five years.

    Mr. Wu holds a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Petroleum University.

  • Craig Webster
    Chief Financial Officer

    Mr. Craig Webster has served as director in Microvast since 2012. Mr. Webster joined the Ashmore Group, a dedicated Emerging Markets investment manager, in January 2005, holding positions as General Counsel (2007-2010) and Global Head of its Special Situations Funds (2013-2018). During his time at Ashmore, he was a member of the firm’s investment committees for its special situations funds and Latam Infrastructure Fund. He has previously served as non-executive director for BTS Group, a company listed on the stock exchange of Thailand and Petron Corporation, a company listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange.

    Mr. Webster holds a bachelor of arts degree in Marketing from the University of Stirling and the CPE and LPC qualifications from the College of Law (York). He qualified as a lawyer with DLA (now DLA Piper) in 1998, and then worked as a lawyer specializing in cross-border M&A and corporate restructurings with Weil, Gotshal & Manges (1998-2003).

  • Sascha Rene Kelterborn
    Chief Revenue Officer

    Sascha Rene Kelterborn joined Microvast in 2017 and is Chief Revenue Officer. He has more than 20 years global sales and business development experience.

    Mr. Kelterborn was the Senior Vice-President of Sales & Marketing of the Western Globe since January 2018. He has also served as Managing Director of MPS UK and of Microvast GMBH since June 2017. He joined Microvast as Deputy Managing Director of Microvast GMBH in January 2017.

    Prior to joining Microvast, Mr. Kelterborn served as Managing Director of Kelterborn & Partner, providing consulting services to the railway, building supply and industrial sector from January 2015 to January 2017. From December 2007 until November 2014, he served in numerous positions with Vossloh AG, Werdohl, Germany, including Vice President CIS & Mongolia, December 2010 to November 2014, and Vice President Sales December 2007 to November 2010. At times during his engagement with Vossloh AG, he also served in the following positions: President of Vossloh Fastening Systems America Corp., Chicago, USA; Regional Director Vossloh Middle East Business Rail LLC, Abu Dhabi, UAE; Member of the International Sales Steering Committee of the Vossloh AG; Member of the supervisory board of ZAO Vossloh Fastening Systems, Moscow, Russia; and Member of the supervisory board of Vossloh Fastening Systems, Kunshan, China. Before he joined Vossloh Group he worked for Müpro Group, Philips Group and other industries.

  • Dr. Wenjuan Mattis
    Chief Technology Officer

    Dr. Wenjuan Mattis joined Microvast in 2013 and is the Chief Technology Officer, responsible for the technology and product development of materials, cell, module and pack from R&D to pre-mass production.

    Dr. Mattis has over 16 years of experience in developing lithium-ion battery technology, she has 22 papers and 81 patents. She is also the Vice President of the International Automotive Lithium Battery Inc. (IALB) since 2013, and a Board of Director of International Meeting on Lithium Batteries LLC (IMLB) since 2016.

    Before she joined Microvast, Dr. Mattis worked in Dow Energy Material Division at The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI.

    Dr. Mattis holds a Ph.D. degree in Material Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University. She was a visiting Research Scholar at Kyoto University and Waseda University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Fudan University in China.

  • Shane Smith
    Chief Operation Officer

    Shane Smith joined Microvast in 2019 and is the Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Smith has an excellent track record as a proven leader with considerable experience in technology companies. Prior to joining Microvast, Inc., he was the Sr. Vice-President of Product Marketing of TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Technologies, from 2013-2019.

    In 1996, Mr. Smith worked for TriQuint Semiconductor, today Qorvo, Inc., in various roles of increasing responsibility. In 2011, he became the Vice-President for Global Marketing for Mobile Devices. From 1990-1996, Mr. Smith was a submarine officer in the United States Navy.

    Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree from the United States Naval Academy, certified Naval Nuclear Engineer, and a Master of Science in Business from the Johns Hopkins University. He serves as a trustee of the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation.
